Co-Ed Wrestling Hosted First Ever Home Meet!

The Co-Ed Varsity Wrestling team hosted its first ever home meet at the Martha C. Cutts Gymnasium on Tuesday January 9th. The four year old program, wrestled to a packed house as they competed against two top schools know for their wrestling program; Georgetown Day School and St. Anslem's Abbey.

During the school's inaugural home meet, nearly every member of the team had an opportunity to compete. Our Wrestling Lions won both meets due to the amount of forfeits in class by each of the opposing teams, marking the first and second dual meet wins in school history!

Ninth grader Jabulani Clay (pictured above in black singlet) and tenth grader Satiya Ewing-Boyd dominated their opponents in front of the home crowd, with both claiming victory. Both Inity Stone and Rebekka Stewart showed a ton of grit in their individual matches, with Stone taking her opponent to a grueling three rounds. Despite the end result of his match, first year wrestler Kenny Redman (10th grade) continued to wrestle like a natural. We are certainly looking for big things from Kenny and his performance set the competitive tome for the evening.

Finally the fans were treated to an entertaining inter-squad match between Josh Perrin and Nazzy Fisher with the latter coming out the victor. Both student athletes stood up to a standing ovation.

Coach Torrence and his team will be hosting their second home meet against Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Tuesday January 16th 2018 at 4:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
